If so, here is a creative way to let her know you care!<\/p>\n<p>For Thanksgiving, you can help \u201cSave a Girl\u201d by \u201cthanking a girl\u201d \u2013 more info below!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Isn\u2019t this baby girl just precious?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>She has the face of an angel.\u00a0 A mother couldn\u2019t help but want to show off a beautiful daughter like this to her neighborhood, let alone the whole world.<\/p>\n<p>Unless this girl was a despised \u201csecond daughter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meet \u201cBai Jun.\u201d Loved as she is by her mother, she was hated by her father and his parents.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bai Jun was a three-month old baby when we found her.\u00a0 She has an older sister, making her a second daughter.\u00a0 Many second daughters are aborted or abandoned in China.\u00a0 Even under the new Two-Child Policy, where the first baby is a girl, many couples insist that the second baby must be a boy.\u00a0 Many of the babies we have saved are second daughters.<\/p>\n<p>Bai Jun\u2019s grandmother from her father\u2019s side looks down on her mother, because she comes from a poor family.\u00a0 When her mother gave birth to her older sister, her grandmother was upset. Before Bai Jun was born, her grandmother pressured her mother to have an ultrasound to determine the baby\u2019s gender. Her mother refused, because she knew that if the baby was a girl, the grandmother would pressure her to abort her daughter.<\/p>\n<p>At first, Bai Jun\u2019s father stood up for her mother, protecting her from the pressure to have an ultrasound. \u00a0He must have thought that Bai Jun was going to be a boy, because as soon as she was born, her father began to side with his own mother against his Bai Jun and her mother.<\/p>\n<p>Bai Jun\u2019s mother began to cry often. She was afraid that her husband would leave her because she had given him two daughters and no son. Bai Jun\u2019s mother said,\u00a0 \u201cThis little girl is a very quiet baby.\u00a0 She is so innocent.\u00a0 She has no idea what is happening in the world.\u201d\u00a0 Bai Jun\u2019s mother said that she would like to keep both girls with her.\u00a0 She is determined somehow to survive even without her husband\u2019s support.<\/p>\n<p>But how?\u00a0 She has no money or means of support, and she has two little mouths to feed?\u00a0 Often, this constant stress and financial strain can lead a family to do the unthinkable \u2013 to give away or to abandon their baby girl.\u00a0 The situation was desperate.<\/p>\n<p>When Women\u2019s Rights Without Frontiers found out about Bai Jun\u2019s situation, our undercover fieldworker knocked on the door of Bai Jun\u2019s home and gave her mother a message of hope.\u00a0 She told her, \u201cGirls are as good as boys.\u00a0 Both of your daughters are precious and you are right to want to keep them both.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Our fieldworker told Bai Jun\u2019s mother about our \u201cSave a Girl\u201d program.\u00a0 She told them we provide a monthly stipend to families to empower them to keep their girl. \u00a0Bai Jun\u2019s mother responded gratefully, telling our fieldworker, \u201cGod has extended a helping hand to me, bringing\u00a0 hope into a situation that had been hopeless for me and my two lovely daughters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>This Thanksgiving, will you help \u201cSave a Girl\u201d by giving thanks for yours?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What better way of expressing gratitude for the woman or girl in your life than by rescuing a woman and a girl in China?<\/p>\n<p>Step 1: Donate $25 or more \u2013 the amount of money it takes to help support a girl saved in China for one month<\/p>\n<p>Step 2: Indicate in the notes section of your donation the woman or girl you wish to honor, and her email address.
