{"id":2454,"date":"2016-12-23T07:04:52","date_gmt":"2016-12-23T07:04:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.womensrightswithoutfrontiers.org\/blog\/?p=2454"},"modified":"2021-02-19T02:21:18","modified_gmt":"2021-02-19T02:21:18","slug":"georgetown-conference-names-reggie-littlejohn-keynote-speaker","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.womensrightswithoutfrontiers.org\/blog\/georgetown-conference-names-reggie-littlejohn-keynote-speaker\/","title":{"rendered":"Georgetown Conference Names Reggie Littlejohn Keynote Speaker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_39803\" class=\"yiv3610357956gmail-normal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_39806\">Student leaders at a Georgetown University conference have selected <\/span><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_40982\"><a id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_40981\" href=\"http:\/\/www.womensrightswithoutfrontiers.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_40980\">Women&#8217;s Rights Without Frontiers<\/span><\/a><\/span><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_39805\"> president Reggie Littlejohn as keynote speaker based on her work against forced abortion in China &#8211; a mission they hailed as unifying the divide between left and right.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_40986\" class=\"yiv3610357956gmail-normal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_40991\">Littlejohn is scheduled to give the main address for the 17th Annual <\/span><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_40985\"><a id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_40984\" href=\"http:\/\/www.oconnorconference.com\/keynote\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_40983\">Cardinal O&#8217;Connor Conference on Life<\/span><\/a><\/span><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_40989\"> in Washington, D.C. on January 28.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_40988\" class=\"yiv3610357956gmail-normal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_40987\">\u201cWe chose Reggie Littlejohn to keynote this Conference because we believe her international, human rights mission to address China&#8217;s Two-Child Policy transcends the entrenched and divisive rhetoric often used when life and death issues are addressed in politics on the national stage,\u201d stated Conference Co-Director Jeannette Joly. \u201cThrough her own powerful political engagement, Reggie Littlejohn has successfully received recognition for <a id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_41186\" href=\"http:\/\/www.womensrightswithoutfrontiers.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Women&#8217;s Rights Without Frontiers<\/a> from both the left and right sides of the aisle. Undoubtedly, these unifying efforts to save women from forced abortion and baby girls from sex-selective abortion will move, inspire, and motivate the attendees of the 2017 Conference.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_41014\" class=\"yiv3610357956gmail-normal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_41013\">Named after Georgetown alumnus John Cardinal O&#8217;Connor of New York, the Conference promotes discourse on the sanctity of human life and is the largest conference of its kind in the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_41160\" class=\"yiv3610357956gmail-normal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_41187\">Joly praised Littlejohn&#8217;s &#8220;impressive experience&#8221; defending human rights in China, and said her message is especially important following China\u2019s switch this year from the infamous One Child Policy to a \u201cTwo Child Policy.\u201d Littlejohn has affirmed in <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.womensrightswithoutfrontiers.org\/blog\/?p=2130\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Congressional testimony<\/a><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_41159\"> that the new policy hasn\u2019t stopped China\u2019s system of coercive population control, including forced abortions and involuntary sterilizations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_41076\" class=\"yiv3610357956gmail-normal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1482468412826_41075\">&#8220;I am honored to have been selected as keynote speaker at Georgetown&#8217;s Cardinal O&#8217;Connor Conference,&#8221;
