Credit: Fiona Basile<\/p><\/div>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1490931135333_59374\" class=\"yiv3649328589MsoNormal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1490931135333_59373\" style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif;\">One of Littlejohn\u2019s recommendations regarding how the UN can help the women and babies of China is by investigating UNFPA\u2019s activities in China, demanding transparency, and in the case of a lack of cooperation, defunding UNFPA.\u00a0 Littlejohn states:\u00a0 \u201cThe United States Secretary of State should investigate and evaluate UNFPA\u2019s activities in China, and the President should de-fund them under the Kemp-Kasten Amendment, which \u2018prohibits funding for any organization or program that, as determined by the President, supports or participates in the management of a program of coercive abortion or involuntary sterilization.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1490931135333_59507\" class=\"yiv3649328589MsoNormal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1490931135333_59506\" style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif;\">\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/275483\/mr-vice-president-can-you-second-guess-yourself-unfpa-funding-now-reggie-littlejohn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">UNFPA has been found to be complicit with coercive population control in China in the past,<\/a> and I have no doubt that any unbiased investigation would find them complicit again.\u00a0 I have long <a id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1490931135333_59505\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cnsnews.com\/blog\/reggie-littlejohn\/you-are-funding-forced-abortions-china\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">advocated for the defunding of UNFPA.\u00a0 <\/a><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1490931135333_59504\">The U.S. cut off funding to UNFPA in 2002 because an investigation, headed by then Secretary of State Colin Powell, found that UNFPA was complicit with the Chinese Family Planning officials in coercive implementation of China\u2019s one-child policy.\u00a0 The Obama administration restored this funding.\u00a0 The UNCSW \u2013 as the advocate for women\u2019s rights within the United Nations \u2013 should press relentlessly on the UNFPA to be fully transparent and accountable regarding its \u2018family planning\u2019 activities in China.\u00a0 I believe that any independent, unbiased investigation into UNFPA\u2019s activities in China will lead to the inescapable conclusion that they are complicit with China\u2019s population control practices, which include forced abortion and involuntary sterilization.\u00a0 To the extent that the global community is funding the UNFPA, the blood of Chinese women and babies is on our hands.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2517\" style=\"width: 275px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2517\" class=\"wp-image-2517 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.womensrightswithoutfrontiers.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Ai-Lin.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"265\" height=\"358\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.womensrightswithoutfrontiers.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Ai-Lin.png 265w, https:\/\/www.womensrightswithoutfrontiers.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Ai-Lin-222x300.png 222w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 265px) 100vw, 265px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2517\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Baby saved by WRWF\u2019s Save a Girl Campaign.
