Ai Jia\u2019s mother was pregnant three times before she discovered she was pregnant with Ai Jia. Her first child is a daughter. With her next two pregnancies, when she found out she was pregnant with girls, her in-laws pressured her to abort them. Her husband\u2019s parents really wanted a grandson and could not accept a second granddaughter. \u00a0This is the plight of many second daughters in China.<\/p>\n

Then, Ai Jia\u2019s mother found out that she was pregnant again, with a fourth girl.\u00a0 Her mother-in-law began to pressure Ai Jia\u2019s mother again, insisting that she give this baby to a childless couple living 300 miles away from their remove village.<\/p>\n

Ai Jia\u2019s mother did not want to abort or abandon her daughter, but she not know what to do!\u00a0 Our undercover fieldworker arrived at her door just in time with a message of hope and the resources to back it up.\u00a0 She offered Ai Jia\u2019s mother a monthly stipend for a year to help her keep Ai Jia.<\/p>\n

Ai Jia\u2019s mother had already had two<\/strong> sex-selective abortions.\u00a0 Because of our fieldworker\u2019s emotional encouragement and your financial support<\/strong>, this distraught mother is joyfully raising her beloved daughter.\u00a0 She said that she is grateful that people from a faraway land have protected her and her daughter from mistreatment by their own family.<\/p>\n
