Dear Friend,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was truly humbled to give a keynote address at the European Parliament\u2019s recent event on Digital IDs.  I entitled it, \u201cDigital IDs and the Death of Dissent.\u201d<\/strong>   I make the case that in the wrong hands, Digital IDs can be used to create a system of mass surveillance and totalitarian control, leading to a Chinese-style Social Credit System. Other legs of this 4-legged chair are central bank digital currencies or any other programmable currency, artificial intelligence and the massive data centers required to operate the AI.  Dissent will be made impossible, because as soon as we voice an opinion deemed \u201cmisinformation\u201d or \u201cdisinformation\u201d by whomever is in power, we can be shut off of social media, severed from our bank account and credit card, and paralyzed in silence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
