Anni is the daughter of veteran dissident Zhang Lin. She was almost forcibly aborted under China’s One Child Policy as his second child and was able to be born because of the bravery of her parents. She also could have been selectively aborted as a girl, as happens to so many second daughters in China. But she was born, escaped China, and performed brilliantly at Carnegie Hall, after only three years of piano lessons! Read her story here:
